22 crore raids by consumer authority

The Consumer Affairs Authority has announced that 22 crore rupees have been collected as fines from the raids conducted throughout the island this year.
The consumer affairs authority has stated that the fines have been levied for illegal actions such as selling goods at high prices, hiding stock, selling expired goods, not displaying prices.
These raids were carried out between last January and October.
According to the Consumer Affairs Authority, about 22,000 raids have been conducted throughout the island, of which 19,000 have been prosecuted.
The Consumer Affairs Authority further states that raids will be conducted continuously throughout the island in the future.
