Samagi Janabalawega MP Ajith Mannapperuma has been banned from participating in parliamentary sessions for a period of four weeks from today (19).

Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena said that he was banned for touching the mace while it was in the chamber as a serious act of indiscipline.

The speaker also emphasized that all members of the parliament should act in a disciplined manner according to the standing orders.
