The leave of CEB employees is cancelled

A special circular has been issued canceling the leave of all the employees of Ceylon Electricity Board.

Considering that at a time when the supply of electricity has become an essential service, the Acting General Manager of Ceylon Electricity Board, Engineer Narendra De Silva, has issued the said circular.

Accordingly, the leave of all the employees of Ceylon Electricity Board will be canceled from yesterday (02) until further notice.

However, it is also stated in the circular that employees can take leave only with the approval of an executive officer of the first class or above attached to the conce ed branch/division in case of urgent emergencies.

The Ceylon Electricity Employees Union recently said that a three-day protest has been planned from today (03) against the proposed bill for the restructuring of the Electricity Board.

Its Chief Secretary Mr. Ranjan Jayalal said that he would inform the Minister of Power to withdraw the relevant bill immediately.
