Minister of Power and Energy Mr. Kanchana Wijesekera said that the proposal brought by the Chinese gove ment-owned Sinopec Company to build an oil refinery in Sri Lanka will be approved by the Cabinet on Monday (27).

It is stated that the investment for that is 4.5 billion dollars.

China's Sinopec and Vitol had submitted plans for the construction of an oil refinery when proposals were invited last August.

But later Vitol withdrew from the process.
