Ends the terms of Parliament

The session of the Parliament has ended with effect from midnight today (26).
It was through a gazette announcement issued by President Ranil Wickremesinghe.
Accordingly, the gazette announcement issued by the President states that he will terminate the parliamentary term in accordance with the powers assigned to him by Article 70 of the Constitution.
The President has stated in his gazette announcement that the next session of Parliament will begin on February 7 at 10.30 am.
With the end of the term of the Parliament, the work of the currently functioning committees will also stop and in the new term of the parliament, those committees should be reconstituted and start their work.
