Flood warning extended

The flood wa ing issued for the Nilwala Ganga basin has been extended further.
In a statement, the Irrigation Department stated that it has been extended for the next 24 hours.
Accordingly, the Irrigation Department also informs the residents of the area and the people traveling on the roads passing through the area to be very careful.
Meanwhile, 17,000 cubic feet of water per second is being released from Deduru Oya Reservoir.
The situation may develop and the Irrigation Department also informs that in the next few hours there may be minor flooding in the Divisional Secretariat Divisions of Wariyapola, Nikaveratiya, Mahawa, Kobeigane, Bingiriya, Pallama, Halawata, Arachchikattuwa and Rasnayakapura.
