Since Israel started bombing the Palestinian territory last month, more than 10,000 people have died there, according to the Ministry of Health, which is under the control of Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

The ministry says that more than 4,000 of the dead are children.

Israel began bombing Gaza after Hamas killed 1,400 people and kidnapped more than 200 others on October 7.

US President Joe Biden has previously questioned the accuracy of the Health Ministry's figures, while the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) say any information provided by a terrorist organization should be viewed with caution.

Hamas is a banned terrorist organization in many countries, including the United Kingdom and the United States.

However, Cairo-based World Health Organization (WHO) regional emergency director Richard Brennan said last week that he believed the figures provided by the health ministry were credible.

Israel's military says it has struck 450 targets in the past 24 hours, while the Hamas-run Health Ministry said the ove ight massacres claimed more than 200 lives.

Meanwhile, the director of Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City said people were using donkeys and their own cars to carry the bodies, and ambulance services were unable to reach them because communications had been cut.

Foreign media reports that communication has been restored, but it is difficult to get information from Gaza City.

The heads of all UN agencies have issued a joint statement calling for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire.
