The Union of Gove ment Nurses has started a nationwide strike from 7:00 am today (17) to 7:00 am tomorrow.

Mr. Sudath Jayasiri, National Organizer of the Union, stated that this decision was taken due to the lack of good response as expected in the discussion held between the Minister of Health and the Minister of State for Finance yesterday (16).   

In the meantime, the symbolic strike carried out by several health unions has been temporarily ended today (17) at 6.30 am, says the Interim Medical Joint Front.

Its chairman Mr. Upul Rohana said that if steps are not taken to provide the demands within a week, professional action will be initiated again.
