04 Indian fishing boats and 21 Indian fishermen engaged in illegal fishing in the country's territorial waters have been taken into custody by the Navy.

Yesterday (06) the Sri Lanka Navy took the vessels and fishermen into custody in an operation carried out by the Sri Lankan Navy to drive out the Indian fishing vessels that were engaged in illegal fishing activities within the Sri Lankan waters.

The four (04) Indian fishing vessels taken into custody by the Navy and the twenty one Indian fishermen on board have been taken to Talaimannar Jetty and Kankesanturai Harbour, and are to be handed over to Talaimannar and Jaffna Fishery Inspection Offices for further legal proceedings.
