Measles cases are up in 9 districts - Ministry of Health

According to the Ministry of Health, there has been an increase in the number of measles cases in 9 districts.
Dr. Palitha Mahipala, the secretary of the Ministry of Health, said that a program has been planned to provide a dose of measles vaccine for 6-9 month old babies.
Accordingly, this vaccination program will be implemented in Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara, Galle, Matara, Kandy, Jaffna, Kurunegala and Kalmunai where measles cases are most reported.
The vaccination program will run from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm on January 6.
In 2019, Sri Lanka was certified by the World Health Organization as a country that has eradicated measles.
