The professional action initiated by the Gove ment Medical Officers Association at the provincial level in gove ment hospitals across the island will be implemented today (03) in the hospitals of the Northe Province.

This symbolic strike action was implemented yesterday (02) in all gove ment hospitals in Uva province.

Accordingly, the Gove ment Medical Officers Association stated that a 24-hour symbolic strike will be started today focusing on hospitals in the Northe Province.

These strike actions are to be implemented in phases in all gove ment hospitals on the 6th in the North-West Province and on the 7th in the Sabaragamuwa Province.

The Gove ment Medical Officers Association added that this professional action is being taken based on several issues including tax burden, cost of living, health crisis, increase in electricity charges.
