The Port Public Employees Union is gearing up for industrial action

The All Ceylon Port Public Employees' Union says that it will engage in professional action from the coming week in protest against the non-increase in wages.
The salary increase for the port workers through a collective agreement was suspended according to a decision of the cabinet that met on October 23.
Accordingly, the problem of salary increase for the port workers has arisen, and yesterday (29) the President of the All Ceylon Port Public Employees' Union met and held discussions in this regard.
However, the general secretary of the All Ceylon Port Public Employees' Union Mr. Niroshan Gorakane states that the negotiations failed.
