Protests in front of all government institutions today

Protest movements have been organized in front of all gove ment institutions today (27) based on several demands including the increase of gove ment employee salaries.
It is reported that these protests have been organized with the participation of representatives of several trade unions including the Union of State and Provincial Public Service Trade Unions.
These protests are going to be held based on the demands of Rs 20,000 increase in salary, provision of increased allowances and salaries from January, recovery of full pension entitlement which has been lost since 2016.
Accordingly, protest movements have been organized in front of gove ment institutions during the lunch hour today at 12 noon and it is stated that the main protest has been organized in front of Battaramulla Sethsiripaya.
However, President's Trade Union Director General Mr. Saman Rathnapriya said that it is not acceptable to organize protests for political purposes at a time when the country is recovering from a crisis.
