Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that he recognizes Israel's right to self-defense in the face of brutal Hamas attacks.

However, in order to solve the problem, he emphasized that an independent Palestinian state should be created with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has also said that there is no alte ative to a negotiated solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

The Russian President has further said that the negotiations should be held with the intervention of the United Nations, based on the position that two permanent independent states should be established.
