Steps to streamline pre-schools education

Education Minister Dr. Susil Premajayantha said in Parliament yesterday (24) that the Ministry of Education will not regulate pre-schools in any way and that subject will be assigned to the Provincial Councils.
The Minister mentions that the Ministry of Education will prepare the pre-childhood phase to suit the education reform and steps will be taken to formalize the informality among pre-schools.
The Minister said this in response to the question asked by Galle District Councilor Mr. Sampath Athukorala who was expecting oral answers.
The minister has said that there are 19,000 pre-schools in the country.
He says that the five types of pre-schools include pre-schools run by inte ational schools, pre-schools run by private schools, pre-schools run by provincial councils, pre-schools run by other organizations and pre-schools run by local authorities.
