Teacher protests are being held in many places today

Teachers' unions have organized protests and demonstrations in front of schools across the island today (27).

During the protest held in Battaramulla Pelawatta area on the 24th, the police fired tear gas and water cannons, in which several people were injured.

Accordingly, Mr. Joseph Stalin, General Secretary of Ceylon Teachers Union, said that after school ends today at 1.30 pm, they will protest in front of schools.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education says that the second school term of the year 2023 in gove ment and gove ment-approved private schools will end today (27).

The ministry also mentions that the third school term will start again on November 1.

Accordingly, the gove ment and gove ment-approved private schools will have holidays on the 30th and 31st of October.

Meanwhile, due to the bad weather, the examination of the answer sheets of the scholarship examination in the evaluation centers of the southe province, where the term examinations have not yet been completed, is scheduled to start from today.

The examination of the answer sheets of this year's exam had started yesterday at 435 centers across the island.
