Minister Kanchana Wijesekera says that he has given instructions to the relevant departments to avoid power cuts during the upcoming weekend holidays.

The Minister mentioned that the Ceylon Electricity Board was instructed to avoid disconnection of electricity for non-emergency maintenance work.

He has also stated that related measures will be taken to act according to inte ational guidelines on disconnecting electricity for maintenance work.

It is stated that this step has been taken by paying attention to the complaints received from the people that the electricity is constantly cut off.

Minister Kanchana Wijesekera further points out that due to the unnecessary maintenance work done on the weekend, huge costs have been incurred for overtime allowances.
