Water Supply will be cut off for 80,000 people

According to the National Water Supply and Drainage Board, the water supply of over 80,000 water consumers has been disconnected in the past year due to non-payment of fees.

Accordingly, a spokesperson of the board mentioned that the water supply of 80,970 out of 30 lakh water consumers has been disconnected.

It is reported that there are 63,150 domestic customers and 17,820 non-domestic customers.

1,909 million rupees have to be recovered from the consumers whose water supply was disconnected from the drainage board.

Also, due to non-payment of water charges, 6,118 million rupees have to be charged to the board.

Among them, the water supply board has to collect 182 million rupees from the hospitals, 175 million rupees from the schools and 116 million rupees from the army and police.

In the meantime, the National Water Supply and Drainage Board further stated that customers who have disconnected their water connections can pay 25 percent of the amount due and get the connection again and continue with the future payments.
