A special discussion on the decision to abolish the UGC

A discussion has been held between President Ranil Wickramasinghe and the Federation of University Teachers' Unions.
The Presidential Media Division stated that the discussion was held at the Presidential Office.
It is reported that matters such as increasing the academic research allowance given to university professors and exempting the allowance from the tax levied at the time of ea ing are being discussed here.
It is mentioned that the gove ment has a good understanding of the economic difficulties faced by all the people of the country and the gove ment's aim is to provide relief to all the people by solving the existing economic problems as soon as possible.
President Ranil Wickramasinghe has further said that a study will be conducted regarding the possibility of abolishing the University Grants Commission and adjusting the administration of the entire university system according to the Califo ia and Beijing University systems.
