Japan's 'Jiji' news service reports that a group of Sri Lanka's creditor countries may give Sri Lanka a loan relief.

The report further states that there is a possibility to extend the period given for the payment of the loan.

The group is co-chaired by Japan, France and India.

The report also states that Sri Lanka's largest exte al creditor China has also paved the way to join this group.

The agreement with the group of creditor countries was reached about a month after an agreement was reached with China's Exim Bank on a $4.2 billion debt restructuring.

With this latest situation, it is assumed that Sri Lanka will be able to release the second loan installment (330 million) from the Inte ational Monetary Fund.
