The health department requests parents and education authorities to follow hygienic methods to control the spread of eye disease among children, which is spread as a viral infection.

Mr. Upul Rohana, President of Sri Lanka Public Health Inspectors Association, stated that the spread of this eye disease among school students in some areas is spreading in an epidemic form.

Eye redness, tearing and discharge and inflammation of the eyes are among the common symptoms of this disease.

Mr. Upul Rohana requested the parents to refrain from sending children with those symptoms to school.
