The Chairman of the Committee on Public Finance, Member of Parliament Dr. Harsha De Silva stated in the Parliament today (06) that the Ministry of Finance expects to levy VAT on baby nutrition food, fertilizers, medical equipment and health care.

However, the member added that his committee requested the Ministry of Finance to exempt those essential items from VAT.
