Ceylon Transport Board has started a special passenger bus service called 'Kolompura Trips'.

A specially trained driver, conductor and service provider are to be used for these buses.

In the first phase, four tourist rings will be introduced centered on Colombo and this will be implemented as a pilot project.

Based on the success of the pilot project, the controlling authority of the Sri Lanka Transport Board hopes to expand the bus service based on tourist zones throughout the island.

Since there are multi-religious and multi-ethnic people living in Sri Lanka, Minister in charge Dr. Bandula Gunawardena has given instructions to include some important religious places in Colombo district in these tourist rings and give tourists the opportunity to see the historical things in them.

He also said that since this bus service is aimed at foreign tourists, decent and disciplined drivers and conductors owned by the Transport Board will be used for that purpose.
