Signs of leprosy among children

In order to eliminate leprosy among children, it is necessary to ensure that there are no leprosy adults in families with children, says the National Leprosy Control Campaign.

Its director Dr. Prasad Ranaweera said that a special program is being implemented this year to eradicate leprosy among children.

Meanwhile, last year, 1,550 leprosy patients were diagnosed in Sri Lanka.

The National Leprosy Control Campaign stated that 173 of them are children.

The highest number of leprosy patients have been identified from Colombo district and the number is 315.

Also, 168 leprosy patients have been identified from Gampaha district, 151 patients from Batticaloa district and 116 patients from Kalutara district, the National Leprosy Control Campaign stated.
