The United Nations says that many patients stuck in hospitals in the Gaza Strip cannot be evacuated.
The head of the UN agency for Palestine refugees has said hundreds of people are trapped in hospitals in the north of the Gaza Strip and are on the ground unable to travel south.
Foreign media reports that many people in the north are seeking shelter in schools run by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA).
Meanwhile, many Hamas fighters were killed ove ight in ground operations in the Gaza Strip, Israeli forces say.
