The 48-hour token strike that the postal workers had started has ended.
Postal workers went on strike on the 8th to protest against the sale of the Nuwara Eliya Post Office building and the Kandy Post Office building under the guise of opening tourist hotels.
Accordingly, the strike action ended at midnight yesterday (09) and the United Postal Trade Union Front states that it will carry out duties as usual from today.
Mr. Chintaka Bandara, co-convener of the United Postal Trade Union Front, said that necessary steps have been taken to distribute nearly 10 lakh postal items that have been piled up due to the strike action.
