A token strike of 48 hours demanding Rs 35,000 allowance

In protest against the provision of 35,000 rupees allowance only for doctors, the Joint Medical Services Joint Front has decided to carry out a symbolic strike of 48 hours from 8.00 am today (10).

Mr. Upul Rohana, the president of that front, said that 10 trade unions will join this strike.

However, it is stated that this trade union action will not be implemented in the children's hospital, cancer hospital, mate ity hospital, kidney hospital, central blood bank and mental health institute.

Meanwhile, paramedics launched a token strike at gove ment hospitals yesterday to protest against the gove ment's decision to increase the 'Transportation and Immobility Allowance' or DAT allowance for doctors by Rs 35,000.

Due to this, the patients who came to the gove ment hospitals all over the island for treatment were very inconvenienced.
