Doctors and university professors on symbolic strike

The Association of Gove ment Medical Officers says that a symbolic strike at the provincial level covering gove ment hospitals across the island will start from today (02).
The association has announced that the strike will be held in protest against the gove ment's failure to retain doctors in the country to mitigate the collapse of the health system.
According to this, a 24-hour token strike will be implemented in Uva province from 08.00 am today, said Dr. Chamil Wijesinghe, the media spokesperson of the Gove ment Medical Officers' Association.
Meanwhile, Senior Lecturer Charudatta Ilangasinghe, Media Spokesperson of the Federation of University Doctors' Association, has emphasized that they will engage in a token strike in all gove ment universities today in protest against several issues including the salary problem and the cuts in funding to state universities.
