The import of vehicles for public transport services has also been suspended.
The Minister of State for Finance Mr. Ranjith Siambalapitiya mentioned that the one month period given for the import of those vehicles has also expired.
The Minister of State said that they will provide an opportunity to release the imported vehicles within the month in which the permission was given.
According to this, there is no permission to import any vehicle.
The Presidential Secretariat had appointed a special committee to prepare a report on the import of vehicles.
The Minister of State said that special attention will be given to the need for vehicles, the space available on the roads, the cost of fuel and the amount of exchange for the import of vehicles.
